Sites of Memory presenteert 'Future for the Past 2021': een reis door de tijd naar het koloniale verleden. Kunstenaars uit Zuid-Afrika en Nederland geven hun visie op dit actuele onderwerp in zang, poëzie, dans, beeldende kunst, en theater. De wandeling begint in het Joods Historisch Museum en eindigt in het Scheepvaartmuseum.

De voorstelling is corona-veilig en bestaat uit een interactieve wandeling waarin live optredens worden afgewisseld met 360 graden audio en video die de bezoeker op een tablet kan volgen. Het publiek gaat mee op reis langs verschillende historische locaties en krijgt inzicht in hoe ons koloniale verleden doorwerkt in het heden en ons beeld voor de toekomst.

Future for the Past duurt ongeveer 90 minuten en is voor het grootste deel in het Engels, met stukken in het Nederlands, Afrikaans en Papiamentu. Bent u niet goed ter been? Neem contact met ons op, we bekijken dan samen wat de mogelijkheden zijn.

Na aankoop van een ticket ontvangt u meer informatie via de mail over de verzamelplaats en route van de voorstelling. Indien de voorstelling onverhoopt door corona gerelateerde maatregelen geen doorgang kan vinden, zal het ticket gerestitueerd worden.

Future for the Past is a journey back in time to the connected colonial past between The Netherlands and South Africa. Artists from both countries translate their vision to this history in music, poetry, dance, visual art and theatre. During this interactive walking tour, live performance will intersect with 360 degrees video and audio segments, which the audience will follow on a tablet that will be provided to each guest. The audience follows the journey past historical locations in the city. With this performance, Sites of Memory shares insight into how the colonial past plays a role in our present and to reimagine the future.

Future for the Past is a corona-proof interactive walk through Amsterdam. which takes about 90 minutes. If you have difficulty walking, please contact us so we can find a solution. The performance is in English (with texts in Dutch, Afrikaans and Papiamentu).

After purchasing a ticket you will receive more information via email about the meeting place and route of the performance. If the performance unexpectedly cannot take place due to additional Covid regulations, tickets will be refunded.
