Kevin Welch has a career spanning four decades as a recording artist and producer, as well as writing songs for artists such as Roger Miller, Waylon Jennings, The Highwaymen, Solomon Burke, Linda Ronstadt, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks and many others.
Grammy-award winner, Chris Stapleton, released a version of Welch’s song MILLIONAIRE that went to number #1 on iTunes in its first week of release. Kevin Welch’s music, right from his first albums in the early Nineties, has carried him around the planet, earning him deep respect in the musical community and fans from every walk of life, including the former president of the United States, Barack Obama.
Welch's recordings with Kieran Kane were highpoints in Americana country-folk and comparisons with Bob Dylan and Randy Newman have never been contested: Welch is a storyteller and observer who crafts a lyric like few others. Kevin Welch has released some 14 records, most for Dead Reckoning Records, the label he co-founded in Nashville in the mid 90s with Kieran Kane & Fats Kaplin.
He is a master story teller. His songs are gems, his guitar playing is phenomenal and his voice is extraordinary. He belongs to the generation of great singer-songwriters on a par with David Olney, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, all cum laude students of Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark Kevin moved to Australia during Covid, for love and family, and has since settled down there. He frequently tours the East Coast of Australia and New Zealand, but has not been over to Europe, or the US, since 2019. He is coming over in
September to hook up with friends and fans, and hopefully to meet up with new ones as well.
Kevin is currently working on a book on songwriting, The Long Craft, partially autobiographical, mostly ruminating on the
basic fundamentals of lyrics. Available through his Patreon site.
